NEW ORLEANS! It looks and tastes amazing!
So much history, culture, and amazing food! What's not to love? There is electricity in the air here and everything feels so vibrant and alive!! It's sure to put a smile on your face and provide you with a day full of fun, not to mention an extremely full tummy from all the good eats and treats!
We had an absolutely amazing time visiting the city with our good friends James and Kim from Treasure Hunt Travelers. From the French Quarter, Bourbon Street, Preservation Hall, The French Market, St Louis Cathedral, to the Streetcars...there is just so much to see and do and this doesn't even scratch the surface!
BUT, lets talk about the food we tried on our (way to short) visit...
We started the day with chicory coffee and beignets at the famous Cafe du Monde. This place is nothing short of absolutely delicious! The beignets are loaded with a heaping mound of white powdered sugar (pro tip: don't wear black) and the chicory coffee is to die for! This place has been an New Orleans staple since is opened in 1862. Come anytime, day or night, the French Market location is open 24 hours a day!
Next up was some amazing corn on the cob from a stand at the French Market Farmer's Market. This corn on the cob was covered in Parmesan cheese and Tony's seasoning. It was absolutely delicious! Perfectly seasoned and the corn kernels were pop in your mouth delicious!
We then had a late lunch/early dinner at Superior Seafood and Oyster Bar. This place was absolutely delicious! We happened to show up during happy hour... which always make us happy! They had raw oysters for 50 cents each! What a steal! A whole dozen for just $6. We also tried the Char-grilled oysters which were loaded with cheese, herbs, and butter... in one word, AMAZING! Also not to miss are the Fried Alligator and the Crawfish Mac & Cheese appetizers!
Needless to say, we MUST go back to New Orleans!! We have so many more things to see and countless things we still need to eat!
